Timeline history of Center Court Tennis Show



June 1st, 2001 - In a local sports talk show, Mertov hears Fancast owner Adam Epstein talk about his up & coming website which lets fans broadcast games live or do talk shows. The idea for a tennis talk show is born.

June 5th, 2001 - Mertov registers to Fancast as a TJ.

June 6th, 2001 - 1st Center Court Tennis Show ever is inserted on Fancast's schedule for 4 days later. It is the only show related to tennis on Fancast and it's the only weekly tennis talk show on any wave.

June 10th, 2001 - 1st edition of Center Court Tennis Show is broadcast from Birmingham, Alabama with Mertov as the host. Mary from Oregon is the first to send a message, Fabulous Dan from California is the first caller. Recap of French Open 2001 occupies most of the show. Due to the interest to the show, Center Court Tennis show becomes a weekly show, every Sunday at 2 PM Eastern USA time.

August 2001 - Mertov broadcasts Center Court Tennis Show from Fethiye, Turkey.

US Open 2001 - Back in US in September, Mertov has US Open nightly updates every evening along with weekly Center Court Tennis Show. Interest peaks and Mertov is a top 10 TJ on Fancast for most of September ahead of many shows that features top sports such as baseball and football.

Fall Of 2001 - Center Court Tennis Show moves to Mondays 7:30 PM Eastern

January 6, 2002 - Center Court Tennis Show's 25th edition is on the air.

April 25, 2002 - Center Court Tennis Show website is born

April 30, 2002 - Mertov and Center Court Tennis Show are news on USA Today's Sports Section ("Sports On The Web" corner): To read click here

May 18, 2002 - Mertov writes his debut article/column for Sports Central: Agassi's Injustice To Tennis

May 26, 2002 - Center Court Tennis Show switches to its' summer season time (Sundays at 2 PM Eastern)

June 4,2002 - Mertov's second column appears on Sports Central: Grass Is No Longer Greener

June 10, 2002 - Center Court Tennis Show is 1 year old!

June 24, 2002 - Mertov's 3rd column is on Sports Central: Martina, Let It Go!

June 30, 2002 - Center Court Tennis Show is once again broadcast from Fethiye, Turkey

July 20, 2002 - Mertov's column named "A Day In The Life Of A Tennis Fan" is on Sports Central

August 12, 2002 - Center Court Tennis Show is back in the US for broadcasts, switches back to its' fall season time (Mondays 7:30 PM East).

August 28, 2002 - Mertov's column named "Less Soap, More Tennis Please!" appears on Sports Central.

September 2, 2002 - Center Court Tennis Show reaches another milestone with its' 50th Edition on the air!

January 24, 2003 - Mertov's writes another column for Sports Central entitled "Choke Jobs: A Necessary Evil".

March 24, 2003 - Center Court Tennis Show airs its' 75th edition

April 7, 2003 - Center Court Tennis Show airs its' 77th and last edition on Fancast. Few days later Fancast announces the end of its' operations. No explanations are given. Center Court Tennis Show temporarily loses its' home.

April 11, 2003 - Mertov's column No "Free Lunch" Ladies! is on Sports Central

June 29, 2003 - Mertov's column Wimbledon is a Reality Check appears on Sports Central

August 2003 - Efforts are underway to find Center Court Show a new home.

August 26, 2003 - Mertov's column Bring On The New Rivalries appears on Sports Central

October 30, 2003 - Mertov's column "Hitters and Missers" of 2003 appears on Sports Central
